About us

The Glasgow City Conservative and Unionist Association was established in April, 2013.

We are a voluntary organisation within the city which is solely funded by local party membership, subscriptions, donations and fund-raising events. We are open to all and everyone is well come to join us or attend our campaigning or social events. We support the Scottish Conservative Party in a number of different ways:

  • Campaigning on our beliefs
  • Organising and attending events (Political and social)
  • Providing new ideas to help make Glasgow an even better place to live
  • Working hard to ensure we elect more Councillors, MPs and MSPs
  • Submit ideas that would be beneficial for Glasgow when party policy is being formulated

The Glasgow City Conservative and Unionist Association fights hard to ensure that Scottish Conservatives are elected to office from local Government to Holyrood and Westminster. We actively campaign to increase our share of the vote, spread our message and win seats. We also specifically champion the issues most important to the people of Glasgow and we campaign at every level to bring about the change our great city so desperately needs.

We are a patriotic party of the Scottish centre-right which stands for freedom, enterprise, community and equality of opportunity. We are a party that believes that Scotland contributes so much to the United Kingdom and benefits so much in return.

We are a party of choice, responsibility, localism, low taxation and strong but limited government.

Locally we are champions of individual choice meaning that we believe that people and not the state make the decisions that are best for themselves, their families and their communities.

We stand for personal responsibility, meaning, we believe that people must take responsibility for the decisions they make and bear the consequences if they break the law. Freedom cannot exist without responsibility and respect for the rule of law.

We hold a passionate belief in localism. In Glasgow we are constantly fighting to give more powers to our communities as we believe that decisions should be made as close to the people as possible. Big government stifles local action. We believe in re-empowering local communities.

We believe that taxes should be kept low and that hardworking people should be able to keep more of the money that they have earned and not have it eaten up by the reckless and excessive spending of Government. We believe in prioritising family bills rather than allowing government to run them up.

As Conservatives we believe in government that is strong in its guarantee of security, freedom and civil liberties, but limited in its size, cost and ability to interfere in the day to day lives of individuals, families and businesses

This is an extremely exciting time for Conservatives in Glasgow. Our Association presents many opportunities for the Conservatives to tell their story of delivering change for ordinary hardworking Glaswegians.
